GRAVEYARD SLEUTH
If graveyards could speak one would hear …… stories that shaped American and local history ... hushed whispers of community celebrations or hardships... fond remembrances of the quaint pioneer customs and traditions... chuckles over mind-boggling folklore... interpretative discussions of symbolism depicted through gravestone art... emotive recitals of literature and poetry... about the timeless architectural facades that boldly boasted of their beautiful intrigue... or a sympathetic behind the scene glimpse of the bittersweet occupation of a sexton or stone carver’s philosophical demise.
It is through the unspoken words and eyes of a graveyard that we invite your students to discover the fascinating and educational world of graveyards.
